Welcome to BITT nutrition. I am a farmer's daughter, registered dietitian, IIN health coach, and personal trainer looking at the body as a whole so we can have the best quality of life possible, while feeling the best!

Who is taking their workouts outdoors these past few days?⁣⁣

My 30 minute outdoor leg workout consisted of:⁣⁣
▫️tire flips⁣⁣
▫️banded squat hold with rope slams⁣⁣
▫️banded lunges with alternating arm rope slams ⁣⁣
▫️TRX 1 leg squats⁣⁣
▫️TRX curtsy lunges ⁣⁣
▫️weighted squat and press ⁣⁣
▫️running around with Bryce ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
30 min walks or workouts at home or the gym are all I can get these days. Life happens, but I will always find a way to keep moving. ⁣⁣

⭐️Did you know eating more plants is good for your body to reduce the risk for chronic disease and inflammation AND also helps the environment?⁣
⁣
The Western diet, packaging from processed food and take out, and large amount of food waste (up to 40% of our food) is actually hurting our environment and our bodies (and wallets). ⁣
⁣
I have been talking about sustainability with clients and we throw away about 1/3 of our food! So how about we put that wasted money toward foods that heal us! ⁣
⁣
When we start incorporating more plants (nuts, seeds, beans, legumes, fruits, veggies, whole grains, oils) your body will thank you. You will find you don’t need that large amount of meat to fill you up!⁣
⁣
Plus you will fill your 3+ servings of veggies and 2+ servings of fruit within your day... trust me many of my clients are not hitting those numbers!⁣
⁣
You don’t need to label yourself as vegan, vegetarian, plant based, etc.... just start eating more plants!!⁣
⁣

Cinnamon buns were always at holiday brunch. Usually Pillsbury cinnamon buns. So I created a healthier, homemade version. ⁣
⁣
I am too lazy to wait for dough to rise, so instead I just use “self-rising” flour and low fat plain Greek yogurt to make these cinnamon rolls in less than an hour! Inspired by @lilsipper ⁣

Not a food or nutrition post, but I look at all aspects of health... one being your spiritual beliefs. I have clients with many different beliefs. I never judge any clients based on their religious beliefs or bring up mine during a session. ⁣

I am blessed with amazing clients that the Lord has put in my life. ⁣

As we go through this week, Holy Week, may we not forget what lead up to Easter. The pain Jesus went through on the cross to pay for our sins, then to rise from the grave. ⁣
⁣
No matter what sin or pain you may think God can never forgive or heal, know he left it all at the grave FOR YOU. Your suffering can lead to joy and no sin is too far from being forgiven, you just need to give it to him and believe that he can do all things. ⁣
⁣
Use this week to reflect on this past year/ years sufferings you may have encountered and start finding the joy in the small, mundane blessings the Lord has provided (I know it can be hard). ⁣
⁣
I love you all and hope you all have a great week! This week we will be announcing the gender of baby #2, reveal with peeps and smoke! I will also be providing an Easter brunch recipe! ⁣

Craving carrot cake lately and pretty stoked I am going to have carrot cake for my birthday next week (thanks to @roseduff411 ). ⁣

As much as I enjoy being in the kitchen and creating healthier dishes or desserts. I now have balance where I can also have NO GUILT of enjoying items I love like: carrot cake, ice cream, and my mom’s Mac and cheese! ⁣

I love helping woman find their balance in life and throwing away the all or nothing mindset. ⁣

I have been down the bingeing and restrictive roads way too much in my past and don’t want that way of life for anyone!⁣

Anyway, I made these Irish potato pancakes last year with @kodiakcakes buttermilk pancake mix, cream cheese, coconut, cinnamon, vanilla, and sprinkled powdered sugar. I wish I saved the recipe because it was delicious. Sorry to say I lost the recipe 🤦🏼‍♀️. ⁣

Smoothies can be a good way to get a portion of your nutrients and a healthy, quick option especially for busy people that are having trouble getting enough calories in. ⁣⁣

To increase your breastmilk, it is important to eat enough and to include items like: it’s, brewers yeast, flax meal, fruits, veggies, protein, and liquid... which can be found in these smoothies. ⁣⁣

Here are some facts about registered dietitians:⁣
▫️at least a bachelors degrees (now a masters degree) accredited by ACEND⁣
▫️1,200 hrs of an internship in a variety of areas from community, ICU, med/sure, peds, bariatric, outpatient, foodservice, etc. ⁣
▫️pass the CDR exam⁣
▫️some states require dietitians to be licensed ⁣
▫️can accept insurance (if they choose)⁣
▫️provides evidence-based medical nutrition therapy and nutritional recommendations based on the individual⁣
▫️a dietitian can call themselves a nutritionist but a nutritionist can’t call themselves a dietitian⁣

▫️easily digested for baby⁣⁣
▫️perfect food for your baby⁣⁣

▫️hormone oxytocin: release often called: “letdown reflex”- helps baby to get milk easily, also helps the uterus go back to normal size faster⁣
▫️hormone prolactin: necessary for the secretion of milk and the levels increase when baby feeds, also helps mommas relax ⁣⁣
▫️cheaper way of feeding ⁣⁣
▫️lower obesity in childhood ⁣⁣
